An official update about Thich Nhat. - the Mindfulness Bell.
Welcome to the Portland Community of Mindful Living. The Portland Community of Mindful Living practices meditation and mindfulness in the tradition of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, with an emphasis on cultivating mindfulness in daily life and using the support of a Sangha (community).
Gathas are nourishment for our mind, giving us peace, calmness and joy which we can share with others. They help us to bring the uninterrupted practice of meditation into every part of our day. There are many gathas are available in the book by Thick Nhat Hanh Present Moment Wonderful Moment: Mindfulness Verses for Daily Living.
The focus was on mindfulness as defined by Vietnamese Tibetan monk and author Thich Nhat Hanh. According to Hanh (1998), “Mindfulness is the energy of being aware and awake to the present moment. It is the continuous practice of touching life deeply in every moment of daily life” (p. 64).
My essay is a reflection on my recent journey to New Orleans with Mindful Peacebuilding’s Roots Retreat 2016. You can subscribe to the Mindfulness Bell or order the autumn issue directly from the magazine. Proceeds from the Mindfulness Bell go to support the worldwide healing and transformation work of the Thich Nhat Hanh community.
